I wouldn’t count on Viking. I don’t think they have the capability of manufacturing nor the financial backing to do it. They had to raise money to do the trail. They are a group of board members pushing a PR campaign to pump the stock price and try to get an investing company to buy them out.

I think it really depends on the person. Weight loss is weight loss all these drugs make you eat less. That’s it. I think the muscle loss is coincidental depending on the person.

*Sidenote:* Not 100% sure, but I think Novo changed the Wegovy manufacturer’s coupon fairly recently. IIRC, it used to be 500 off the list price (so, $849 for the out-of-pocketers), but now you pay 650 OOP. But, you do have to have commercial insurance (which doesn’t cover it), not sure if that was a requirement before. 🤔 If this really is what’s happened, then still not as good a deal as Zepbound ($550 OOP w/coupon), but you could consider it a PRICE CUT by Novo. Wotta concept. 😯

Very cool. Was a bit worried this would slip to later this year. 👍 But as you’ve reported and I’ve said, with generics, there’s often a lag between release and the price dropping a lot. IIRC, that’s usually about 6-12 months. Still really good news. ✨ And I guess the next GLP-1 to go to generic is Trulicity, with the patents expiring in 2027.

Nice vid on an important topic, Dave. 🌟 On Bimagrumab, I’m a little less stoked on that one than I used to be. ‘Cuz apparently, - It’s expensive. - The side-effects profile ain’t great. - Requires an IV infusion. - Da added muscle doesn’t improve strength Maybe Lilly’s working some mojo in the trials to improve some of those things, but still, may not be quite the upgrade we were hoping for. 😐 On Pemvidutide: Those results on quality of weight-loss are sure great (IIRC 30-40 percent of WL being lean-mass loss is pretty typical for ‘natural’ WL, so holding it to 21 percent is amazing)… BUT, I’m not sure that’s attributable to the glucagon component. 🤔 From what I’ve read, glucagon actually has a *catabolic* effect, aka it can break down muscle and the associated amino acids, not build them. If that’s the case then Pemvidutide is either doing something *else* to preserve muscle mass, or those results are slightly suss (‘gamed’/atypical patient population?). In fact, one of my worries is that Reta, Survodutide, etc (all the glucagon meds) will be a bit *worse* at preserving lean mass than current-gen meds. Very much hope that’s NOT the case. 🙏

It’s possible to not lose if we put in the work. Ive lost 152lbs in 20 mos on Mounjaro. Pcos, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance no diabetes. Over 45. Had Dexa scan done muscle mass is in perfect range. Ive gained 8lbs of muscle the past 10 mos while in a calorie deficit and my BMR is higher now vs 70lbs heavier 😳😳. I was shook. In case anyone cares lol I strength train 2 days a week full body 1 hour each session with adequate rest in between, which is recommended for us older gals lol. I also walk 5-6 miles a day. Thats all I do for exercise. Strength training is so important on any weight loss journey, wish more would get on board. I started weights 3 months into my Glp journey. I average 1300-1400 calories a day and 100g of protein. Still losing eating the same calories I was eating 70lbs heavier because Ive put on muscle.
